FYI, además de matplotlib, que es una gran herramienta, debemos 
mencionar chaco (https://github.com/enthought/chaco) y bokeh 
(https://github.com/pzwang/Bokeh), el último "animalito" de Peter Wang, 
para tenerlo en cuenta.
